Maha Mandi’, organized annually by National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Mumbai is a one of its kind event where the students take the business to the street where it actually belongs. The event is organized with the help of Navnirmiti, an NGO working towards disseminating education to the underprivileged children. Through Maha Mandi, toys made by the NGO are sold by the students and the proceedings are used by Navnirmiti to educate the children.
NITIE is the only B-School in India which has adopted this unique method of teaching to enhance the practical knowledge-gaining experience of the students. “Institute – Industry – Market” is an often quoted mantra of learning, here at NITIE.
Dr. Mandi directs the whole event. He conducts the festival theme maths workshops.
Threefolds of Mandi:
- To make a difference in the lives of thousands of children who lose out on basic education.
- The students practice the classroom concepts of Marketing, Principles of Management, Business Economics, and Accounting in the real field.
- To impart an additional dimension to the learning of the students who buy these toys.
